Various corporations, building trade unions, foundations and agencies provide funding and materials and more than 1000 volunteers donate their time to this successful program every year. They are neighbors helping neighbors by revitalizing homes, communities and lives.

Traditionally, the major emphasis and largest portion of repair projects occurred on Rebuilding Day, a one-day blitz build event that takes place the last Saturday of April. However, in 2000, RTP developed Corporate Workday projects and Operation Urgent Care a year round emergency repair program. Special funding for year round services is provided by Foundations and special partnerships with local utility companies, the Allegheny County Area Agency and corporations. Elderly homeowners seeking assistance with emergency plumbing, roofing and electrical problems and safety modifications can find free repair support twelve months a year to alleviate a crisis.

Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh assists elderly individuals living in Allegheny County. They are people who have worked hard to maintain their homes in the past, but have become physically frail and financially unable to continue with the upkeep of their homes.
